–keep Pandora on Tennessee Ernie Ford Hymns’ Rock of Ages station at night –learn how to crush pills between spoons and refill comfort meds’ syringes  –search for and play songs from your childhood that you used to listen to while playing pool downstairs in the basement as a family  –sing along as siblings as you do so to great oldies such as The One Eyed, One Horned Flying Purple People Eater, The Winner, or A Boy Names Sue. –vacuum up salt on carpet tracked in from caregivers –watch his chest, waiting for the rise again between breaths, holding your own when it gets so long you think, “Is it now, Lord?” –pray –go a little stir crazy –have wrestling matches with God over how much is He exercising Hs sovereignty and how much is dad exercising his free will  –welcome family, friends, (and caregivers who have become so) as they come in –watch more game shows than you ever knew even existed (the channel on most often these last few weeks that Dad enjoyed) –debone that rotisserie chicken in the fridge to save in the freezer for your brother –rub Dad’s shoulders and forehead –read aloud to dad the 4 daily devotionals he has faithfully read each morning (The Upper Room, Our Daily Bread, the Today, and Words of Hope) –practice balance exercises with your sisters in the living room realizing how your age keeps creeping up on you –brainstorm with siblings and cousins’ fun old country western songs dad would play on his record player –roll wheat pennies –take brief walks up and down the dead-end street for some fresh air and filtered sunshine
